March 2nd Dinner and Celebration

As an organizer of the Thai people in this region in early 1970′s, I am glad to see that our community has matured. The Thai people are professionals and business owners. Now numbering some twenty five thousand and growing, we have several Buddhist temples located in Dallas, Keller, Irving and Arlington, also there is a  Thai Chamber of Commerce, a Cultural Center and a Thai language school. Thai people are professionals and business owners.

Thai food - spring rolls

While Thai food currently ranks as the fifth most favored food, the Thai government aims to move it’s popularity to third most favorite in the world. Thailand has been one of the most favorite vacation spots with its natural beauty, its polite and beautiful people and its quality and inexpensive products and accommodations.

In the year of 2006, we celebrate King Bhumibhol‘s 60 th anniversary of His Accession to the Throne. As the longest reigning monarch in the world, His Majesty hosted twenty seven of the thirty living kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses, Sultans, and Emperors who arrived in Thailand before June 12 to celebrate this auspicious occasion. The most elaborate ceremony, the pageantry and procession of the royal barges, was broadcast all over the world. The majority of the world’s monarchs have been royal friends of His Majesty’s, having been His Majesty’s royal guests on many previous occasions. His Majesty has been the rock uniting 68 million Thais all over the world. Prime Ministers came and went but His Majesty was always there to keep our common focus as Thais. The size of Texas, Thailand in its thousand-year history has been in war and at peace. Its traditions, culture, dance and literature have evolved. Although the majority of Thai people are Buddhists, Thailand’s freedom of religion allows Christians, Muslims and Hindus to worship in their own faiths.

This Web page will serve as communication tools between people in Thai Community and the public. The community meets and celebrates on many occasions and invites the public to participate in these events. My congratulation to the current Executive Board headed by none other than Dr. Pairoj Pratumrat, assisted by Khun Vivit Lervisit and many others in this new forward step.

David Suvid Pita, M.D.
